Photoshoot with Natalie
Asher was just 9-hours shy of being born on Earth Day. However, he'll always be my little nature boy. Here are a few pictures taken by the world-renowned photographer, Natalie Benko, that really tune into to Asher's earthy side. He enjoyed the photoshoot for the most part, but you'll see that by the end he had had enough and was ready for naptime.

A lot to celebrate
Asher and I are blogging from Michigan. We were so excited finally attend a wonderful shower (rescheduled from April 4th) to celebrate Asher and show him off to such great friends. On top of that, Asher got his very first cousin early Monday morning -- a sweet little 8 pound 9 ounce girl born to Uncle Nick and Aunt Dawn. Lydia Mae was born Monday morning at 12:15 am after a lot of hard work from Aunt Dawn. My parents went to meet their new granddaughter right away and Will, Asher, and I are hoping to get to meet her this coming weekend. Stay tuned for pictures of Asher and his new cousin!
Our shower was wonderful. Asher decided to nap for most of the afternoon, but there were many ladies who were more-than-willing to hold him. We got so many great gifts and had fun celebrating Asher's journey so far. Thank you to grandma Griffith who got Asher the great Tiger's cap, and thank you to all his wonderful aunts for the peace monkey (see the picture below). :)
I was so excited that Liz made it to the shower and finally got to meet Asher. Since Liz lives in Philly, she had yet to meet the little guy. She was in Ohio visiting her family and made the trip up to Michigan, and what a sweet union it was.
Asher had a doctor appointment last Thursday and is now weighing in at 10 pounds 12 ounces! He has officially doubled in size from his lil' 5-pounds at birth. He is getting stronger everyday and even had his first occupational therapy appointment last week. It went great and we learned fun things to do to help him get stronger. We will continue to have O.T. every week and will be adding more therapies in the near future to continue strengthening Asher.
Here are a few pictures from the shower. Thank you to all the wonderful ladies who made this possible.

summer!
I finally have a few minutes where I am sitting down drinking my morning coffee. Asher just had a bath, diaper change, and is fast asleep now. Finally --- a chance to blog!
Life has been crazy in the Atkins' household this summer. We had a great 4th of July and are thankful that we decided not to venture downtown for the fireworks to meet up with friends. We were very ambitious originally to think that we might haul the stroller and all that goes with baby downtown on the the busiest weekend in downtown Chicago. Thankfully, we decided to stay home and have friends over the following night.
This past weekend, Will's parents and brother Ben (the creepy uncle) came into town to spend time with Asher (and us... maybe). It was great to have help with the little guy and Grandma Atkins was more than willing to spend time with him while I went downtown with Emily or while the guys went to a Cubs game Sunday night.
Ben is staying all week since the Pitchfork Music Festival is this coming weekend. Will and I have went to this great festival for the past 2 years and are hoping next year (2010) will be Asher's first time attending. Although he has expressed great interest in bands such as the Flaming Lips and Beirut, we think it would be best if he opted out this year. He is, however, excited to spend some time with a few of our dear friends who are giving up their weekend evening to hang out with him.
The following weekend we are headed to Michigan for a shower that was postponed from April due to bedrest. I am looking forward to celebrating Asher's birth with friends and family and thankful that our family friend Robin is still up for planing the shower -- 3 months later than planned.
August is non-stop greatness overall. I'm going to Ohio to celebrate Liz's upcoming nuptuals to Art, we're having tons of friends come visit the weekend of the 7th (mostly guys, but CAROLYN is coming, too!!), and then I'm headed to Colorado to fullfill my matron of honor duties and help Kristi plan her October wedding. Will is off work for 2-weeks in August and so excited to have a break.
Here is a cutie cute picture of Asher from yesterday. He looks great in orange, don't you think?
